These days I quite like the songs Stressed Out and Fairly Local by Twenty One Pilots and Faded by Alan Parker. Stressed out has catchy chorus and captures the uncertainties of growing up. When you get stressed out with work and studying, it is always tempting to want to go back to the days of childhood—a time when people looked after you and you didn’t have tons of responsibilities.
The song Faded gets a little repetitive, but the singer’s pure and airy voice is a good match for the trippy lyrics and atmospheric arrangement.

My favorite song right now is ‘meet the grahams’ by Kendrick Lamar, aka ‘Kung Fu Kenny’. It is a diss track towards Drake. The story of why he dropped this is complicated, but long story short, it’s because Drake called out Kendrick’s family in a bad way, so Kendrick responded by using a song.
So let’s get right into it.
The reason why I love this is because of the beat produced by The Alchemist and how Kendrick is just going respectfully disrespectful on the tones on the song, as he is like so calm and chill on the vibes. Also the lyrics are going crazy, Kendrick is exposing Drake on this track, like assuming Drake’s a paedophile, a homo, another Jeffrey Epstein etc. But the bars that shocked me the most, is that Kendrick’s saying that Drake is allegedly hiding another child. I said ‘another’ because he did hide his child for the public’s eyes lol. And many other reasons. So this is why Kendrick won Drake in this beef.

My favourite song for now is “Darkside “from Neoni. Although it has a cheerful and light-weighted melody in the beginning, the beat gets harder and harder and harder until the lyrics goes”Welcome to my darkside”. I like this line very much because it indicates everyone has a darker side, but it is whether you spot it or not. I highly recommend this song to every hard beat song lovers.
My favourite recent song is ‘this is what winter feels like ‘ by JVKE. He released the song on 11 January 2024. The whole song uses the style of cinematic pop, which is dramatic and feels like you’re in the movie. The song, it really brings out the feeling of winter, coldness and loneliness. I really like’ They say the coldest heart’s the hardest to break. That’s prolly how I ended up in this place.
With no emotion left to process the pain’ this part. Overall, the song is cool and reminds me of relationship problems and friends, I recommend this song to everyone.

My favourite song English song is Peter Pan was right by Anson Seabra.This song was released in 2022.One day when I was listening to music through spotify,it suggested this song to me.I loved it when I first heard it.The melody is kind of sad actually.And the lyrics are about the adulthood and childhood.’I guess Peter Pan was right,growing up’s a waste of time’really express what I am feeling now.As a F2 student,I already wanted to be back when I was a little kid.Those days are so happy and no pressure at all.Some of the lyrics describe that when the singer was a little boy,he was playing with his best friends and now going back to the place again,it left him with memories only.His best friends have lost contacts with him long ago.So he can’t go back to that time again.
I usually listen to it when I was full of anxiety and pressure etc.This song is really good it gives me motivation to grow up and keeping things on track.

I don’t think I can ever get over “All Too Well” by the icon herself, Taylor Swift. The whole song is like an incandescently beautiful picture, from the red scarf (that symbolises her innocence before the relationship and how it was stripped away by the guy), to the her hair, ruffled, and dancing midair to the melody of the breeze. She depicted these scenes, without leaving a single detail out, to insinuate that she, till this day, still remembers all the little pieces of the puzzle, of the relationship. Her writing is, as always, phenomenal, but I went from someone who barely listened to her music to a die-hard fan once it’d dawned on me how she leveraged her writing abilities to show that this relationship, every picture, every conversation, everything they went through together will always be imprinted on her mind. There are a few lines in which she nailed juxtaposition, “you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath” showing how she would open up about her true feelings about her then significant other, but he would just keep her bottled in, like she was something to be ashamed of. Another example is “in this city’s barren cold, I still remember the first fall of snow, and how it glistened as it feel. I remember it all too well”, this is hands down, one of the best lines in the song as she describes how winter’s now melancholic and ghastly after their breakup, but when he was still there with her, snow was glistening, and everything was close to perfection. She was spiralling down into nostalgia, and reeling in so much pain. But her thousand yard stare can only be fixed on the polaroid pictures, the crinkled love letters that she never had the chance to send out. WHAT A MAGNIFICENT SONG.
My favourite English song is “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift, it is released in 2014, so it is quite an old song, but it is still the most streamed song in her one of the most famous and successful album “1989”. Although one of her trademark “nice to meet you” is also mentioned and written in this song. You can hear this song everywhere, such as on Youtube, Sportify and Joox. I have heard Taylor’s song since Form 1 and one day when I need to search for a singer for sharing, I found this song and I listened to it. It just make me feel a little bit addicted to this song and I have listen a few more times to “Blank Space” that day. It a little bit difficult to understand about the meaning that the song want to express, but after I’ve did some research online, I then know that the song portrays a flirtatious woman with multiple romantic attachments. Last but not least, I think that this song have a special rhythm and the beat make me feel sick, just like her trademark “this sick beat”. So I recommend this song to all the people who listen to English song or not.

My favourite English song is “Happy Stuff” by Walk off the Earth. They just released it on August 26 2022. The time that I first listen to it just after the UT. After UT, when I found that I had made some mistakes in the test, I feel a little bit worried. But after I listened to this song, as the song said that “I just want happy thought, happy friends, happy song, happy love” and “Forget about all the not-so-happy stuff”, it awakes me that it is no help that I worried about the test after finished it. Then I started to try to be relax after then, it really makes me feel better. Last but not least, the song said that “I can think of the hundred million things I’d rather do than be anxious”, it just tells me that the ‘most important’ thing is not to worry about the mistakes that you have made after you have finish something, but to think about how to relax yourself and do it better next time. To conclude, this song can make me feel better after listening to it and it is really a nice song, so I recommend it to all my friends

My favourite recently released English language song is ‘Left and Right’ by Charile Puth. It was also featured by popular boy group BTS’s member Jungkook. This song has been one of favourites since it was released. The song was so catchy that I kept singing it all day. I really love listening to this song with my headphones on. In the chorus, ‘I can feel you over here.’ is repeated twice, one time on the left earphone and one time on the right. It gives me an extremely cool feeling. Also one thing so special about this song is the different accents between Charile Puth and Jungkook. They are totally different, but the chemistry between them was just mindblowing. This song will always be the paramount song to listen to when I feel down. It makes my day every single time. I truly recommend this song to all of you!
My favourite English song is “Getaway Car” by Taylor Swift, taken from her sixth album, Reputation. It is about a love-triangle story, some rumors said that it was written about the relationship between Taylor Swift, Calvin Harries
and Tom Hiddleston. At the beginning of the song, it has a fuzzy sound saying that nothing good starts in a getaway car. I believe that means a relationship that started in a devious way will not have a good ending (Taylor fell in love with Tom but she has already had a boyfriend Calvin.) And the song verified it eventually. At the end of the song, Taylor abandoned Tom, you can see it in the lyrics “Put the money in a bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me.: Their paths diverged, the ending corresponded to the sound said at the beginning.
I love this song so much because it has incredible songwriting. I think I was reading a story instead of listening to this song. Also, its melody and rhythm are very amazing. I bet you will love this song.
As a Swifitie, I’m, of course, extremely enamoured of and hooked on every single that Taylor releases. Words can’t describe how ineffably impressed I am with Taylor turning the incident at New Years as a “crime” and how she allegedly got away with it. I love the reference too Bonnie and Clyde, and how their story resonates with her case, jaunting around the city and leaving all the catastrophes behind her.
My favourite English new release is Wrecked by Imagine Dragons. The song was released on July 2, 2021. I was listening to some older songs from the amazing Imagine Dragons when this song was released. I was not especially enthusiastic about it. But it turned out quite nice. The song is about how Dan Reynolds felt after the death of his sister-in-law, how shaken and wrecked he felt. The lyrics were meaningful, as most of their songs were, with a suitable melody to express Reynold’s feelings. Unlike their other songs, this one is more about sadness instead of the band’s views on the world and their life experience.
Although I prefer Cantonese songs, I think Wrecked is one of my favourites. The lyrics were simple but meaningful. It made me think of lost things that made me grow up. Who and what lead me to become the person I am now? Do I still remember them? Are they still here? What will happen if they were gone forever?
Wrecked is by far the second most memorable from the Imagine Dragons, just slightly after Believer, in my opinion. I truly think this is a song you should check out if you have time. And I hope that the Imagine Dragons can keep it up.

I remember waking up extra early in the morning to watch the premiere of the video, so I was super excited about it. And it definitely did not disappoint me! The song tells the story about a break up, and how the memories were still there. The melody was memorable and the lyrics were touching. Compared to the original version, there were a couple new verses in the song and they just made the whole song better! The new verses sound natural fitting in and bring out the meaning of the song more.
Although I’m not in a relationship, I think it is kind of relatable to me and my “ex-friend” . How he just let me out with me all confused. “And I forgot about you long enough to forget why I need to” When I first heard this line, memories of us appeared on my mind and I started tearing up (Yes, I am emotional, I know) I almost completely forgot about him, and already forgot why I hated him. A lot of the lyrics also describe it and it just makes me like this song even more.song even more.
If you have time, I really suggest you check this song out. Although it is a little long. It is absolutely an amazing song!
I really agree with you! I love this so too! 10 minutes doesn’t feel like 10 minutes at all when I’m listening to this song! It’s just so good, and some of the lyrics are quite deep, just like ‘you kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath’. Taylor’s songwriting is just so beautiful.

One of my favourite songs is actually ‘You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile’ from Annie the musical. Well, it’s not exactly ‘recently released’ as ‘Annie’ debuted in 1976, but there was a new show called Annie Live in 2021 which included this song, so I guess we can also call it a recently-released song. I really like the positive tone in this song and how energetic the kids were in it. There’s a main message in this song, which is clearly ‘you’re never fully dressed without a smile’, and I really like it ! Although it is not as popular as some other songs in the show, like ‘tomorrow’ or ‘maybe’, I really like the melody of this one. The song is quite easy for us to understand, and yet it brings out an amazing message. So I’ll give this song a 10 out of 10, and I definitely recommend it you all of you guys!

There are different variety of English songs which I really appreciate. And one of my favourite songs is “ Older ” by Sasha Sloan. The song has a soft and sorrowful ambience. This song also gives me a profound thought which inspires me a lot. It talks about the experience of the singer that she heard her parents quarreling at home. Thus, she understood love is not easy and it is hard to maintain a stable and inseparable relationship. The lyrics “ loving is hard, it don’t always work” told that she found out relationship between two lovers can be very fragile. If we cannot remain it carefully, it will be broken easily. What’s more, the lyrics “ sometimes it’s better to let someone go ” told us that leaving is the only solution if the relationship is irrevocable. When people continue to keep a brittle relationship, it will be arduous to both of them. After listening the songs, I can’t stop thinking about the relationship between friends and family. I realized that maintaining a healthy relationship is not simple. Many efforts and time are needed to put into it.
I highly recommend this song to you all as I think the way to keep a good relationship is what everyone should reflect on.

The charming and warm voice of actor Bradley Cooper, coupled with the thick, explosive voice of the heroine Lady Gaga, as the mood of the song became more intense and boiling, the two voices wiped out a particularly infectious spark. If it brings out the emotion of the plot, this will surely touch people’s hearts even more!
Although the song is called Shallow, it implies that the relationship between them is only ambiguous, and neither dare to go further. However, at the end of the chorus, “We’re far from the shallow now”. Meaning that they have moved away from the shallow and sank into the endless sea of love together, making the relationship between them closer and calmer.
I like this song very much. When I heard the chorus for the first time, I was deeply fascinated. I love the emotional fluctuations that this song gives people, from introvert to explosive, and finally return to beautiful calmness. It makes me ponder again.

Yes, Bradley Cooper’s and Lady Gaga’s voices harmonize together perfectly! Especially in the part “In the sha-ha, sha-ha-llow, in the sha-ha-sha-la-la-la-llow”. Their voices combined, sound so strong and raw. The melody of the song is also really memorable, and it stays in your head. Starting off simple with an acoustic guitar and Bradley Cooper’s lines, it slowly builds up with Lady Gaga’s part. Then, as you said, it becomes “explosive”, and goes back to being calm. This song is truly so beautiful.
My favourite song is ‘She Used to Be Mine’ sung by Sara Bareilles. It is a musical stage adaptation of the 2007 film of the same name. It was recorded by Bareilles for her fifth studio album ‘What’s Inside: Songs from Waitress’ , and was released to digital retailers as its lead single on September 25, 2015.
This song is about a young waitress with an abusive husband wondering how she got so disconnected from who she used to be. The powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

It is a big unfortunate for him because he has written a lot of good songs before his death. This song is about himself got addicted in drugs and what is his life during addiction of drugs. ‘Taking medicine to fix all of the damage. My anxiety the size of a planet , oh. Holes in my skull, over time .My heart’s over ice.’ We know that before he took drugs, he always got a very high pressure in writing songs, working. Therefore he has chosen the wrong way to reduce his anxiety – Drugs. I think everyone should not take drugs to end the pressure since it is harmful for human and it doesn’t help you at all.

I like listening to English songs so much and my favourite song is “Intention” by Justin Bieber. Justin is my idol and every song of him is my favourite. He is just so talented.”Intention” is a love song. The Biebs and Quavo are using the lyrics of this track to shower praise on their respective romantic interests. And in that regard, the titular “intentions” are indicative of their commitment to do what they have to do in order to properly take care of these ladies. This is not in the sense of showering them with material goods per se, as it is revealed that these women ‘got their own bread’. Rather these “intentions” are indicative of the strong adoration they have for the personal attributes of their partners. One such outstanding attribute is the lady having a “heart full of equity”. And that aspect of the song, i.e. the upright and independent nature of the female addressee, is apparently how it relates to its official music video. From this song I can also think that Justin loves his wife much then we expect.

The lyrics are meaningful, realistic and amazing at the same time. The music is very soothing and calms the listener. I like this song very much.

Memories- Maroon 5. This is probably one of the meaningful songs i’ve ever heard. It is recently released in 20th September, 2019. The harmonic sequence of the song is based on the well-known classic– Pachelbel’s Canon. In this sentimental song, the singer, Adam Levine expressed his loss of his friend, Jordan Feldstein who died in 2017.
This is song is for anyone who has suffered from a loss. The song is for every one of us, for the friends we couldn’t meet anymore, for memories that we can never retrieve, for sensations that cannot be felt again.
The seemingly relaxing and catchy music actually a strong sentiment and sorrow. The singer says that in every reverie of the memories he had, he would think of the people he lost. (‘ Memories bring back, memories bring back you’)

My favourite English song is ‘dream it Possible’ There is a touching story behind it. A girl who is very young wanted to learn to play the piano. Her grandpa taught her to play. When the girl grew up. Her family sent her to a musical school to learn to play piano. However, she met a lot of difficulties and she wanted to give up but she told herself to never stop going on. Then, she kept practising. One day, when she was meeting a boy, she saw the message that her grandpa was very sick. Then, she went back to home to look after her grandpa. After few days , she had a piano show. she had a great performance at that day and her grandpa also died on that day. I was touched after watching the music video. It told a close relationship between a girl and her grandpa. It inspires me that we should not give up easily and if we keep going on, we can be successful.

Well that’s not really a “resently released song” but I really want to recommend to you guys. This is a song called ” audio” by Sia, Diplo and Labrunth. It is released in 2018 and I heard that 2days ago. It is a very energetic and happy song and the EDM used in the music is lively and that really matches up with the song. One of my favourite singer, Sia is also take part of this song. The lyrics, the melody, and Sia’s beautiful voice is amazing. A lot of people only know Sia’s ” chandelier”, however, Sia has also created lots of masterpiece such as a famous singer Rihanna’s ” diamonds” and Katy Perry’s “chain to the rhythm” which are all fantastic. My favorite song is ‘Dream it possible’. There is a touching story behind it. A young girl who wanted to learn to play the piano. Her grandpa taught her to play. When the girl grew up. Her family sent her to a music school to learn to play the piano. However, she met many difficulties and she wanted to give up but she told herself to never stop. Then she kept practicing .One day, when she was meeting a boy, she saw the message that her grandpa was very sick. Then she went back to home to look after her grandpa. After few days, she had a piano show. She had a great performance at that day and her grandpa also died on that day.
I was touched after watching the music video. It told me a deep relationship between a girl and her grandpa. it inspires me that we should not give up easily and if we keep going on, we can be successful.
I am recently obsessed with the song “2002” by Anne Marie .It was released about one year ago and it has become popular in the Internet. This song talks about the memory of childhood, especially in 2002. The lyrics”Now we’re under covers, fast forward to eighteen” show that we may have grown up and become adults. However we are still missing the time of childhood when we were carefree and without worries. We may get 99 problems to deal with or suffer from different stress now, but we still want to go wild with our childhood friends. My favourite lyrics are “Oops I got 99 problems singing bye ,bye, bye ” and “singing at the top of both our lungs on the day we fell in love”. When I listen to this song , I instantly recall my memory of playing with my childhood friends. It is absolutely a brainwashing and catchy song .

My favorite song is ‘the nights’ by Avicii . The song is talking about a person only has one life and we need to enjoy our life. We need to do something we want to or hope to do in our life. We should work hard for our dream and push our limits in every moment. We should do something that is our favorite thing. Moreover, in the music video, Avicii did many things that he loves to do. He played the guitar, went dividing, went cycling and so on. These were the things he liked to do . And also, he pushed his limits to do many dangerous things. for example, he divided into the river from a high hill, he stood on the car when the car was moving. And more is he broke the car by himself and made a new cabriolet. It was exciting but also really dangerous. Now, Avicii is not here, he is passed away. However, he is really touched to my heart. what is more, I learnt many things from he, like do something you want and do not worry about the results.And just enjoy your life in everyday.
I agree with you. Avicii was quite a really excellent popular Swedish DJ, electronic musician, and songwriter who specialized in audio programming, remixing and record producing. At the age of 16, he already made his first remixes on electric music, led his first record deal. In 2013, after posting the song “True”, he received so much positive reviews. However, he was too young to pass away that he was too talented making those attractive, mesmerizing songs. He was too focus on his work causing poor mental health and finally he suicide.
I have heard all the songs made by Avicii, including “The Nights”, and of course, I found it a highly enjoyable experience. “Waiting For Love” is an example. The lyric video of this song follows the story of a dog and his owner. The owner is sent to war, leaving his dog at home. The dog eventually runs of off in search for his master, nearly getting killed by a bomb blast which knocks him out and makes him experience flashbacks him and his owner when they were younger. The dog soon wakes up and keeps going, eventually finding his owner in the aftermath of a battle, wounded and his left leg missing. The video ends with both (the dog and his master) back home.
I love “Waiting For Love” due to I also had a pet before and I can the feeling expressing in the video. It has received a phenomenal response since its release, bringing many to tears, and even inspiring ex-military personnel to thank Avicii for making the video.

My favourite English song is Never Be Alone by Shawn Mendes. When I first heard of this song, I was attracted by the whistling and the guitar music at the start of the song. Also, the lyrics are quite inspiring too. “Take a piece of my heart, and make it all your own, so when we are apart, you’ll never be alone,” said the lyrics. These words encourage me not to be afraid when I face any difficulties because the people I love and cherish will always be at my side. “When you miss me close your eyes, I may be far but never gone, when you fall asleep tonight, just remember that we lay under the same stars,” the lyrics also said. It made me feel like the singer was going on a far road trip when I heard the snare drums at the end of the song. I will definietly remeber the message of this song and keep it with me always as I know I will always need them. I definitely recommend this song to my fellow schoolmates. It can really help you relax after a long day.
