Editing in MovieMaker

Here is a good introduction to editing in the software. It will give you a good idea about how to create a short movie. For exporting the movie, however, you should follow the instructions on our export page.

If you are using Windows Movie Maker Live (created for Windows 7), you can get started with this tutorial: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sdte6mxMZzg. Many people, however, strongly like the never version because it doesn’t have a timeline. It is recommended that you use Version 2.6 for Vista and Windows 7 or version2.0 for Windows XP.

Choosing the correct screen dimensions and video format

This step is very important. Your dimensions and forma should match your original video. Our cameras record PAL video and you can choose between standard (4:3) and widescreen (16:9) formats.

1. Go to the Tools menu and select options.

Select Options from the Tools Menu
Select ‘Options’ from the Tools Menu

2. Select Advanced

Select ‘Advanced’

3. Select the PAL Video Format. If your original video is standard (i.e., non-widescreen), select the 4:3 aspect ratio. If your original video is widescreen, select the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Select PAL for video format and either 4:3 (non-widescreen) or 16:9 (widescreen) for the aspect ratio

Syncing Audio and Video

If you want to match your extra audio track (e.g., music) more closely to your video track, you can fine tune where you want your video or audio clip to start. Select the clip you want to move by clicking on it in the timeline. Then go to the Clip drop-down menu at the top of the window tool bar and select Nudge left or Nudge right. This will move your clip slightly to one direction.

You can also try zooming in a cutting one or two frames from a clip if you need a more exact match.

If you are using Windows Live Movie Maker, syncing the video and audio is more difficult. There is a tutorial here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xGarU_TArA
